About me
I graduated from De Montfort University as a fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist and have since worked across England and Wales in a variety of NHS, education and community settings.
With nearly 20 years of experience, I have extensive expertise in assessing and supporting children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, including Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), speech sound disorders, language delay, social communication differences and communication needs associated with Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHW).
A Child-Centred Approach
Every child is unique, which is why I tailor every assessment and therapy programme to their individual strengths and needs. My approach is relaxed, engaging and child-focused, ensuring children feel comfortable and confident while developing their communication skills.
I work closely with parents, carers, schools and other professionals to provide practical advice, achievable goals and personalised therapy that can be carried over into everyday life.
Whether you are looking for an initial speech and language assessment, ongoing therapy, or advice about your child's communication, I will work alongside you to provide the right support.
Areas of Special Interest
I have a particular specialist interest in DLD and supporting children with EHW needs where there are underlying speech, language and communication difficulties.
Children with DLD often experience challenges understanding and using language that can affect their learning, friendships, confidence and emotional wellbeing. Early identification and targeted intervention can make a significant difference to a child's long-term outcomes.
I also have extensive experience supporting children whose communication needs contribute to anxiety, frustration, emotional dysregulation and behaviours that challenge. One of the guiding principles of my work is that all behaviour is a form of communication, and understanding that communication is often the key to helping children succeed.
Alongside these specialist areas, I have worked extensively with children in preschool settings, mainstream schools and specialist educational provisions, providing assessment, therapy and advice tailored to each child's individual needs.
Qualifications and Professional Registration
I am fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
In addition, I am a qualified Elklan and Talking Partners tutor and can provide training, workshops and professional development sessions for schools, nurseries and other organisations upon request.
